KDE development
Where am I?
From mid-2008 to the end of 2009 Lucas was working on KDE's window manager and compositor, KWin, as a developer. Although he originally joined to just polish the desktop effects he somehow ended up doing quite a bit of core work as well. Below you can find a log of Lucas's activities in KWin and KDE in general as well as other useful information that he came across during his development.
What is KDE?
KDE is an international technology team that creates Free Software for desktop and portable computing. Among KDE's products are a modern desktop system for Linux and UNIX platforms, comprehensive office productivity and groupware suites and hundreds of software titles in many categories including Internet and web applications, multimedia, entertainment, educational, graphics and software development. KDE software is translated into more than 60 languages and is built with ease of use and modern accessibility principles in mind. KDE4's full-featured applications run natively on Linux, BSD, Solaris, Windows and Mac OS X.
Updates
- Window tabbing merged (15th November, 2009)
- Plasma, panels, alt+tab and KWin (21st February, 2009)
- Alt+tabbing with lots of windows quickly (15th December, 2008)
Note: Older updates have been removed as Lucas couldn't be bothered porting them to the new site format. Nobody visited them anyway so there is no great loss...
